Vermont Democrats Respond to Republican's Billionaire-First Budget

, on

MONTPELIER — In response to Congressional Republicans passing Donald Trump’s devastating budget, Vermont Democratic Party Chair Jim Ramsey released the following statement:

“Trump and the Republican Party just passed their ‘Big, Beautiful Bill,’ which includes the largest cut to health care and food assistance in American history.

The GOP’s budget bill won’t make life better for Vermonters, it will rob them of their health insurance, take food off the table, and kill good-paying jobs, all to give more handouts to the ultra-wealthy at the expense of everyone else.

Access to quality, affordable health care is a matter of life or death. Republicans are ripping away the healthcare of thousands of Vermonters to further enrich the billionaire class in this country.

Working Americans will know exactly who to blame when rural hospitals close, when communities become health care deserts, and when families are forced to travel long distances to receive the lifesaving care they need.

Trump promised to lower prices on Day One. Instead, Vermonters are bracing for higher energy bills and the threat of job losses as economic uncertainty grows under GOP leadership.

This disastrous budget bill is a direct assault on working families across Vermont. That’s why Democrats in Vermont are mobilizing to hold Republicans accountable everywhere — because the stakes have never been higher.

We’re grateful to Senators Sanders and Welch, as well as Congresswoman Balint, for standing against the GOP’s billionaire-first budget and refusing to let working families pay the price for extremist politics.”
