Committee Recommends Names to Gov for State's Attorney Appointment
For Immediate Release: 10/30/23St. Albans, VT - At an evening meeting Wednesday October 25, 2023, the Franklin County Democratic Committee unanimously voted to recommend interim State’s Attorney Bram Kranichfeld be formally appointed to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of State’s Attorney John Lavoie. Additionally, the County Committee recommended former State’s Attorney David Miller for consideration by the Governor.
Franklin County Democratic Chair Zach Scheffler said:
“The Franklin County Democrats went through a thoughtful process, vetting several attorneys who expressed interest in the position. We believe Bram Kranichfeld has demonstrated a capability to empathetically lead the Franklin County State’s Attorney's office in the interest of public safety and justice. After a difficult year, this office needs stability and healing, as well as someone who can foster more organization and professionalism. Interim State’s Attorney Kranichfeld has shown an impressive ability in his first weeks on the job, and we recommend the Governor make that appointment permanent.”
“Former State’s Attorney David Miller is also a candidate who has experience, professionalism and values that we would all like to see in that office. He is an incredibly skilled, humble and compassionate attorney who is committed to public service. We recommended David Miller to the Governor for consideration as well.”
